TSO 2008

Totally Sold Out (TSO) literary lived up to its name with thousands ushering 2009 with a mega concert at Parklands Baptist Church in Nairobi. Organized by the K-Krew, the event is now in its fouth year (hence Volume 4) and like the previous years featured non-stop performances on the main stage as well as Club Xpressions, a secluded tent-area with several DJs dropping uplifting party music. The krew also held a similar event simultaneously at the Mombasa Beach Hotel. The event also served as the launch of K-Krew's new FM radio station - Power Radio. The station's frequency is 91.1FM with the slogan "Get Inspired". It is currently hosted at the Homeboyz studios. Pastor Julian Kyula of the Purpose Centre, Pastor Jackie and Pastor Gowi officially commissioned the station as the team behind the station was introduced. The massive stage was tricked out with state-of-the-art sound and lighting system. People started streaming in way earlier than expected and newly crowned Mfalme DJ Krowbar provided some much needed party starters on the decks. Mfalme? On Saturday 27th December 2008, DJ Krowbar beat dozens of other DJs around the country and walked away with a souped up mini van, which boasts of top-of-the-range-fully loaded deejay equipment and speakers worth a million shillings as well as a year-radio contract in a station yet to be named by EABL officials. The event started on time with Juliani, who was the night’s MC, welcoming everyone with some freestyles backed by a live band. Performances expected to be refined and on point didn’t disappoint at all. Attendees sampled Rock of Ages, Holy Dave, Maximum Melodies, Milele, Hip Hope, Mavuno Worship Team, Emmanuel Jal, New Move, Eunice Njeri, Sammy Nene, Haimie, Ignitaz, Saintz, Mr. Vee, Daddy Owen, Kevoh Yout and Five-Oh-One among others. DJs Moz and Krowbar rocked the crowds with some thumping mixes on the decks. Comedian Churchill also took to the stage with some outstanding stand-up that left guys in stitches. Fireworks marked the dawn of the new year with jubilation as guys celebrated God’s faithfulness in their lives. Pastor Gowi shared from The Word and led people to the Lord. At Club Xpressions, there were two sets of decks as DJs Sanch, Sparrxx, Krowbar, Jey, Vic and Nyash dropped heat all night to thousands who thronged the tented club area.

The performances on the main stage kept flowing with Mercy Wairegi, Nico, D-Serve, M.O.G and Zaidi ya Mziki performing till early in the morning. The event however, was not without incident as there was a power blackout but generators were on standby. Kudos to the K-Krew, Telkom Kenya and Blackman Entertainment for a job well done.
