TSO Mombasa - Dec 2008

K-Krew's Totally Sold Out (TSO) Mombasa edition was held at Milele Beach Hotel ushering 2009 with a mega concert. The gates opened at exactly 7pm as DJ Fatboy Dreads from Uganda rocked the decks. At 9pm, 2008 Kenya Coast Music Award Nominees CREAM Dancers took to the stage as MTV VJ Runners Up Carolyne Momanyi and Wernono Kru Member Solid C held it down as the official TSO Emcees. After the stunning dance, 2008 Groove Award Nominees Intimacy led an hour of praise and worship.

At 10.30pm, performances from Xzella and Mr & Mrs Toni Dadi energized the crowd before Peter Odanga of Word of Life shared The Word. There then followed a countdown with DJ Soxxy on the wheelz handing over to DJ Jony Celeb at the stroke of midnight. 15 of the greatest fireworks displays rented the air as the 5000+ crowd ushered in 2009 in style at the beach shore. Johny Celeb mixed hits from Fundi Wa Mbao to Muhadhara all the way to Shusha and Kuna Dawa guaranteeing non-stop body movement.

Just when the crowd was tiring, Chizi and his band took it away just before Jemmimah Thiongo and Mercy Masika rocked the crowd. Other performances that followed later included Rozina, Krystin Ndela, Jackoloops and CREAM Dancers. Anastacia Mukabwa also took to the mic rocking crowd crazy with tracks like Umenitowa Shimoni and the South African twist Yesu Nakupenda. Next up was Bantu and Kimsa who hyped the crowd with their Miyale performance before doing the crunk track Ka Umeokoka. Wernono Kru kept the crowd on the toes leading to Rufftone who closed out the show with crowd favourites Mwikulu, Jesus Is My Hero and Tsinyanga Tsiwere.

DJ Smurf handed over to DJ Lenium, the Double Coast Award Winner & Groove Award Nominee who rocked the crowd from ragga and reggae to mugithi and local. God's presence was indeed present that night and the event was quickly labelled a success.

It was worth noting that on opposite sides of Milele Beach Hotel, there were 2 secular gigs happening. But by 2pm, when Jemmimah Thiongo took to the stage, crowds from both events streamed to the Milele Gate to get a glimpse of the action.

The event was sponsored by Milele Beach Hotel, Telkom Kenya, Baraka FM, Equity Bank and the K-Krew.
