| THE CALL KENYA RECAP |

Can a Nation be changed in one day? That was the question pondered as thousands of Christians from different denominations gathered on 6th December 2008 at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi for a day of prayer for revival in the land. It was organized by Daniel Hoogteijling, Wesley Beckamp (Director of The Call) and other ministries including the K-Krew. KenyanGospel.com showed all 8 hours of the event LIVE from Nairobi (and a repeat on Sunday) as GOD TV broadcast the event to 214 nations that's almost half a billion viewers. People of all ages both young and old joined in unity in deep prayer for Kenya. The event started at around 9:30am with praise and worship led by Eunice Njeri. Upon entering the stadium each person received a free book titled “Shaping History Through Prayer and Fasting” by Derek Prince. Thereafter a prayer session for repentance as people cried before the Lord in deep plea for forgiveness. (2 Chronicles 7:14 – If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.). The Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka, shared briefly as Pastor Wesley prayed for him.
VIEW MORE PICTURES OF THE EVENT Bishop Mark Kariuki then took to the stage and on behalf of the Kenyan pastors asked the congregation for forgiveness "for not taking real care of the flock and engaging in competition among ourselves instead of working together" and then led his fellow Pastors in a prayer. (James 5:16 – Therefore confess your sins to each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective). Mavuno Worship Team and The Villagers Band took turns all day in leading the praise and worship sessions. One of the most awesome moments was when Pastor Philip Kitoto of ICC washed the feet of his son Sammy while wepping as he represented all fathers who had neglected their sons instead of loving them and symbolically asked for forgiveness. It was a day of prayer and fasting so no meals were served; just water. At around 1:30pm, Brother Noel shared briefly on God’s love in sending his only son Jesus Christ who gave his life for us by dying on the cross. Thereafter Pastor Wesley from Kenya took over and led the audience in kneeling before God declaring that He is LORD as he read Psalms 2. The Director of The Call, Wesley Campbell also took to the podium and challenged people to pray for poverty to cease in Kenya.
At around 3:00pm, Rev. Steve shared about revival as prayer and revival continued. Throughout the event, it was amazing to see youth, the old and even children in fervent prayer for each other and many people were healed and delivered. Unlike most events, there were no artist performances though we spotted several of them including Juliani, Astar, Lena and Kera of Zaidi ya Mziki, 501, Rigga, DJs Krowbar, Jonny Celeb, Shock, Octave, Jey, Soxxy and Moz among others. The event ended at around 5:30pm with some celebratory music from DJ Moz. |
