NAIROBI - Dance group ICED from Nairobi Pentecoastal Church (NPC), Buruburu scooped the top prize of Kshs 200,000 at the SPA Fest 2010 Finals. The all-night event was held on Fri 18th June 2010 at NPC Karen. There were two categories of finalists with category A taking the top seven finalists while the rest of the finalists were grouped in category B. Runners up in Category A were Impact who pocketed Kshs 100,000 as third place went to Doosh.
In Category B, dance group C4C took the first position and were Kshs 80,000 richer. De'tour took home Kshs 40,000 and the second position while third place went to Saintz B. The performances showed alot of creativity and innovation with one even incorporating 'the constitution' in their perfomance as others mimicked a clothes line (ok, we can't really describe it here so check out the pics).

Hundreds were treated to DJ Soxxy and the K-Krew on the decks and performances from Daddy Owen, Allan Aaron and Eko Dydda among others. There were also 70 performances from the 14 groups that pulled through to the finals. There was a DJ Dance competition between DJ Soxxy, DJ Krowbar, DJ Mo, DJ Sadic and Johnny Celeb. Nation Media's NTV recorded the event for a later TV showing. We had approached the organizers for live streaming of the event on this website but they informed us they had given NTV exclusive rights! The SPA Fest (Stompaz Performing Arts) is an annual dance showdown for Christian dance groups. The event is organized by Dance Nasi Ltd, a company owned by individuals who were at some point members of the group ICC Dance group Stomperz. Check out more info on SPA Fest here. There was a preliminary round on 24th April 2010 where the top 14 teams were selected for the finals. Interestingly, G Stomaz had been crowned as 2nd place winners in Category A but later on, the organizers retracted and awarded dance group Impact accompanied by the following explanation. "There was an unfair penalty applied to Impact earlier that had made G-stomaz take the second position in Category B however that was duly corrected." Another interesting take from the event that probably the organizers can clarify is this. Was it fair to have the top 7 teams compete for 200K and 100K respectively then the bottom 7 teams compete for 80K and 40K? Isn't position 3 in category A better than position 1 in category B? Get our drift?
