| MISSION DRIVEN PRESENTS NUMBER 8 |

The date chosen was intentional - 08/08/08. Number8 is the stage name for Dann Mwangi, one of the members of Mission Driven (MD), a gospel group comprising of vocalists, hip hop MCs, and instrumentalists. The event started 30 minutes late because of a logistical problem with the sound equipment. The MC for the day was Curtis Reed (who's settled in Nairobi from Chicago, US), who also did a piece, as did two curtain raisers Hillary and Jazz. Number8 and the rest of Mission Driven then took the stage.
VIEW MORE PICTURES OF THE EVENT MD was: Benja on the drums. Allan aka Sheazhe on the keyboard - also rapping some bits, Sakaja on the bass guitar (also rapping), Sam on the acoustic guitar (also vocals), Oslo on the keyboard as well, Josiah on the lead guitar, the four vocalists: Christine (fondly referred to as the first lady of MD), Bilha, and MD's second couple: Richard and Leslie Ndungu, and John Ndambs doing hiphop. It was a mix of poetry, hip hop and R&B pieces, with the live band providing background music for the poetry and spoken word when needed and live accompaniment for the hip hop.
There were three general segments to the program: Personal Issues where Number8 told the audience about his life (My Story) and personal testimony (Mathematical Testimony) among things. Relationships - which covered players (Ex Playaz & Flash) who are out to get what they want from ladies. The rather sensitive and sometimes controversial topic of Sex and the Church was covered in Sex in the Church. Marriage was somewhat mentioned as well (Is he the King) The Church was covered in several pieces of spoken word and songs. The show ended at about 9.30pm. Several people have requested for the show to be done again in the near future so Mission Driven is looking at how to put it together again soon. MD also plans to do another concert in December which will hopefully coincide with the launch of a second album. Mission Driven regularly holds a Bible Study (3pm on most Saturdays at AIC Ngong Road) and welcomes anyone to join them. Contact Info:
