Mad Lounge Cafe

X-Po @ Mad Lounge

Mad Love Lounge kicked of with its first session being held at Barizi Lounge and Steakhouse near Yaya Centre, Nairobi on Sun 21st October 2007. It seems people across town were anxiously waiting for such an opportunity because the turnout was overwhelming to the organizers and to the management of the Barizi to a point that the Mad Love Lounge session had to end prematurely about an hour earlier than planned. We later heard from the organizers that the management was expecting a lower turnout and lower sound levels. However, gauging from the comments of the crowd the idea of having a Christian lounge is a brilliant idea. The open mic session was flooded with artistes and aspiring artistes signing up to present a piece. The wide-ranging crowd brought together youth from NPC Woodley, NPC Central, NPC Karen, Parklands Baptist, K.A.G Buruburu, A.I.C Ngong Road, Nairobi Chapel, and Nairobi Baptist among other churches, youth groups and high schools. Talks are in progress to unearth a solution to the issues raised by the management of the venue but the gritty organizing committee emphasizes that nothing will bring them down and if the issues can't be resolved they shall result to identifying another venue that will accommodate Mad Love Lounge in the future.
