The June edition of the Mad Love Lounge Christian cafe series was held on Sunday 22nd June 2008 at the Bandari Plaza (M2) Westlands, Nairobi. The event attracted several Christian hiphop artists including Eternal MCs, Jaxxso and Michelle of Hip Hope. R & B artist Webi also dropped some jams on guitar with an amazing live performance.
The Open mic session featured an array of rappers, poets, singers and even b-boys. Shiro definitely stole the show on the guitar with her catchy voice. Hiphope’s first lady Michelle also graced the mic. Holy Dave, who had just graduated from Daystar University the previous day (congrads man!) was the MC for the event.
DJ Krowbar was on the decks mixing up some banging hip hop as DJ Octave held it down on the sound booth. The organizers termed the June edition a success with great attendance and diverse presentations.
Mad Love Lounge is a monthly event that supports various forms of urban art in a Christian environment. Upcoming and even established Rappers, Singers, Poets, Graffiti artists, B-boys, DJs, comedians and many other individuals are given a platform to express their diverse skills. Entrance is always free. The organizers reiterate that Mad Love Lounge is not a concert, but rather a relaxed and personal setup where people chill together, network, make friends and advance their talents at the lounge. The next edition of Mad Love Lounge should be in July and it should feature two guest artistes and an assortment of presentations during the open mic session
