Mad Love Lounge Dec 2008

The December 2008 edition of the Mad Love Lounge was held on Sunday 21st at the August 7th Memorial Park in Nairobi. Apart from the gig starting a few minutes late, anticipation was high with a huge list of performers lined up. This edition of Mad Love was a showcase of guys who had been performing at the event for the past one year. Jeffro and Holy Dave served as MCs and kept the programme tight. Eternal Emcees were first on the mic setting the energy followed by Kamlesh who kept the crowd screaming for more due to his tight flow. Gravity & Mr. T wrapped up the rap section of the event. Award-winning Webi started the R&B section with his hits ‘My World’ and ‘Outside My Window’. Malaika followed with a spectacular performance backed by her guitar. Eternal Emcees were back with ‘Halleluyah’ which kept the crowd on their feet dancing.

Holy Dave did his song ‘Whatever Man’ which prooved to be a crowd favourite as Juliani stepped in on his verse. He also did ‘Biceps’, ‘Hela’ and ‘Mtaa Mentality’ off his yet-to-be-released album. His unique syllable flow as usual wowed the crowd. DJ Johni Celeb backed him up on the decks. Hey-Z took to the stage next with his song ‘Born Again Soldier’. There was also time for some spoken word as Nuru Bahati did his thing followed by X-Po who did ‘Pass Through’. Holy Dave’s blood sister, Joey also dropped some lyrics leaving guys amazed at her flow. Number 8, who was also the day's birthday boy, was the last on the spoken word and later offered an altar call. Pastor Kilonzo of Pneuma Church later prayed for the people who attended the event. Squadi Sauti and Eternal Emcees were the last to perform at the event which was a great way to end the year. Look out for more Mad Love events in 2009.
