K-KREW'S EQUIPMENT STOLEN... AGAIN

K-Krew Ministry

NAIROBI - On Sunday 31st January 2010, thugs broke into a vehicle that was carrying equipment belonging to the K-Krew and made away with two (2) DVJ Pioneer players and a Rane TTM 57 mixer. The total value of the equipment stolen is $6,500 (Kshs 500,000). The robbery happened in the early morning as the crew was about to go to NTV studios at Nation Center to present their live gospel video show called Crossover 101. This was the second time they have fallen victim to robbers, the first having been on 24th July 2008 where they lost DJ Turntables, mixers, TV, Radio, 5 Cell phones, shoes and clothes.

In what can only be described as attacks from the enemy, the crew has also seen some setbacks in the recent months. In December 2008, they launched Power Radio, a partnership with The Homeboyz only to have it shut down in September 2009. This also saw them loose their two radio shows (Crossover on Thursday nights and Crossover DJ Edition on Sunday evenings) on Homeboyz Radio as they had transitioned into the new station. It is still not clear why Power Radio was shut down though the frequency has since been acquired by a new Dancehall Station that is affiliated to The Homeboyz.

The K-Krew has been one of the most consistent and most visible youth ministries in Kenya. They have a vibrant school ministry where they travel with top Gospel artists over the weekends for outreach. In 2009, they had a nationwide tour that saw them visit over 100 schools and 15 universities. We managed to accompany them to select schools and universities though we can hardly keep up. Here are pictures from Alliance High School, Starehe Boys Center and Egerton University. They also hold numerous events including the popular Totally Sold Out (TSO) every new year's eve.

So who exactly are the members of the K-Krew? The organization is run by Groove and Talanta Award winner DJ Moz (Moses Mathenge) and Njugush (John Njuguna) who is also a Groove Award winner. DJs include Groove Award Winner DJ Soxxy, Mfalme Winner DJ Krowbar, DJ Sanch and DJ Johnny Celeb. They also have an extended family of several artists, pastors and volunteers.

Down but not out, K-Krew's spirit has not been broken. That is why KenyanGospel.com has embarked on a drive to raise funds to re-equip the K-Krew. Most visitors to this site have in one way or another been influenced or touched by the K-Krew so let us, in our own little ways, help them reach out to our other brothers, sisters, friends and collegues. Currently, they do not have any DJ equipment as they did not have any backups. Let us all support them in their time of need as well as pray for their ministry.

I am saddened to hear that k-krew lost their equipments again. I would like to suggest them to insure against theft their next set of equipments. This will safe them alot of heartache. I don\\\'t think an insurance premium would cost that much.

On behalf of the K-Krew, we'd like to thank all those who have donated so far. We're still very short on the funds so keep the donations flowing. No donation is too small.
