Did you know that the first successful live worship album in Kenya was recorded in 1992? Neither did I. Not until I had a conversation with Pastor Kyama Mugambi of Mavuno church. Who was involved in its production plus has been involved in over 7 live worship productions to date. His passion for cultivating and catalyzing live worship music saw Pastor Kyama get involved in yet another live worship production.
A production that saw him work with seasoned worship leaders such as Angie gachui with 6 years of experience, Karaymi a seasoned worship leader, Ugandans Mike and Osayi Onen who bring great singing packed with a cross cultural experience that includes leading worship in Nigeria, Winston Mukasa also from Uganda whose work includes directing children choirs. Finally throw in Webi who’s an award winning singer/songwriter guitarist plus seasoned drummer Henry Wamai and you have Qeuw the band.
This Friday February 15th the band releases the single ‘wa milele’ an upbeat song feat Webi that is guaranteed to get you dancing. Inspired by David’s words in the 9th Psalm. If you have a reason to praise God, this song provides the beat.
More good news is that following the single release, on March 1st the band launches its live album 'Refresh'. A 15 track album that takes the listener on a refreshing journey of worship through contemporary Afro-urban worship music. Exploring such themes as saving Grace, dependence, submission and exuberant praise that was recorded live at Mavuno church in September of last year.
