GROOVE AWARDS AND TALANTA AWARDS |

Two parallel awards are set to take place later this year. After a long hiatus, the Groove Awards is making a comeback this year and making a debut is the Talanta Awards. The two events have striking similarities but one disctinct difference. The Groove Awards, a brainchild of DJ Kev's (Kevin Musau) MoSound Entertainment will be held on Sunday 4th May 2008 in Nairobi. The Talanta Awards is being organized by North Carolina-based The Musters and will be held on Sat 19th July 2008 in North Carolina, USA. In the Groove Awards, the balloting process will consist of three steps: an entry form, verification by a panel of judges and separate ballots through PEPS - Voting sheets, SMS and Website. Online voting starts on April 4th 2008 at www.grooveawards.co.ke. As for the Talanta Awards, the process will involve three steps: online nomination of groups / artistes followed by shortlisting of nominees in each category and online voting. Only Kenyans residing in the US are eligible for nomination though anyone can vote. To nominate an artiste, send the artiste(s) name(s) and category to

and if possible, include a link to their recent works (song, dance, drama). They also have 3 special categories for Kenyan-based artistes (Best Male, Best Female and Best Group) where the nominees will be invited to the US for the awards ceremony.
