GOSPEL JAM ALABAMA RECAP
Sun, 21 Jun 2009

The Gospel Jam tour held its Alabama stop on Sunday 21st June 2009 at the Laborers for Christ Church. The informal session started at 5pm with a live video mixx by DJ Fresh as people made their way to the venue. On the performance list was Kenyan gospel artist Kiki, hip hoppers Holy Ghost Boyz, R&B artist Yung Bern, Tanzanian artist Kyara Dee complete with his back up singers, a duet by Jimmy and Jackie, American hip hop artist Devil Killa and some steppers.

The performances started with some step dances from Devil Killa and his boyz. He then went ahead and dropped some hip hop from his full length album. Holy Ghost Boyz then took the energy to a different level as they performed their catchy hooks with people dancing along to their choreographed moves. Jimmy and Jackie did an up tempo collaboration that also rocked the house. Yung Bern also did his R&B thing as did Kyana Dee who performed some up tempo swahili songs.

Producer Eric Ngaruiya also brought out his stable of performers in his record label. When Kiki took to the mic, she powerfully delivered her hits as she danced along. All the while, performances were interspaced with dance sessions with everything from Kenyan to hip hop to reggae and even salsa.

Laborers for Christ pastor Jacob also took some few minutes to share with those present. We thank the church, the organizers including Stanley and his wife Pauline for putting up the wonderful event and appreciate all those who attended.
