WASHINGTON, DC - Kenya's Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka was in Washington last week for the National Prayer Breakfast among other issues. He sat down for an interview with Steve Clemons from the New America Foundation. His response to questions was atticulate and got me thinking, could he be the next president? If only he gets a very good campaign mechanism and mobilizes the youth.

We have done some major renovations to our Videos page and put up a whole new player. On top of that, we have uploaded dozens of new videos from our vault. These include the new one by Chit Chat called I La La Like It as well as Cubanotics, BMF, Ba'Mdogo, Juliani and the new one by M.O.G called Someday among others. We have made sure that all the videos stream in one player and one can easily select another video and play it instantly. You can also maximize the size of the video to fit your whole screen together with the playlist without leaving the site. The playlist has over 130 music videos. We still have numerous videos that we are still yet to upload so look out for new videos all week long. |

Touched by the Haiti earthquake tragedy, Kirk Franklin assembled over 150 gospel artists to record a song called "Are You Listening: A Love Song for Haiti" to raise funds for those in Haiti. Some of the artists include Mary Mary, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Jeremy Camp, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Fred Hammond, J Moss, Marvin Sapp, Karen Clark Sheard, Kiera "KiKi" Sheard, Shirley Caesar, Dorinda Clark Cole, Natalie Grant, Tamela & David Mann, Bishop Paul S. Morton, Smokie Norful, Marvin Winans, Nicole C. Mullen and Micah Stampley among others. How did this come about? Kirk sent emails and texts to artists to record what he dubbed as the gospel community's answer to "We Are the World." Kirk then contacted Don Jackson, executive producer of The Stellar Awards, to request that GMC (Gospel Music Channel) send cameras and crews to capture the historic recording event (most artists were in town for the awards). GMC agreed and did the official music video below. The song is now available on verityrecords.com and will be on iTunes after Jan 30.

Gospel Music's biggest event is the Stellar Awards and they went down this past weekend in Nashville. Mary Mary and Hezekiah Walker were the big winners of the night. Da T.R.U.T.H gave Lecrae an upset by bagging the Best Rap / Hip Hop album. Check out the complete list of winners here. Crystal Aiken, winner of BET's Sunday Best (show) also bagged a few awards. Speaking of Sunday Best, Kirk Franklin, who is host of the show missed the awards because he is in Nigeria for auditions of the show. Be on the look-out, there may just be an audition coming to Nairobi in future seasons. In general, the show is like Tusker Project Fame or Idol.

So we don't know whether getting the live video feed for TSO 2009 made our readers more happy or just plain angry with us. Well, as you may be aware, we streamed TSO live from Nairobi on 31st Dec 2009 but it went down with alot of hitches. We had 3 back-up plans. Firstly, we were to get the video feed from Citizen's OB van and that did not happen. Secondly, we had a video camera but the connections to the computer did not work in time leaving back up plan number 3 which was to stream using a laptop placed at the back of the hall (yes, that was a laptop's webcam, lol). Anyway, the sound (on the feed) was terrible but the internet connection was not as bad as we thought. We will definitely up our game next time.
