Sing Africa

Sing Africa is a ministry within the Daystar University Christian Fellowship that seeks to present a message of hope to Africa through song, dance and testimony.
Our vision is based on the promise that God has given as in Isaiah 43:1-2.Here, the lord speaks to his people giving them assurance that he is God and there is no need to fear for he has created us for a great purpose. Therefore the vision of Sing Africa is to present a message of hope to Africa.

BACKGROUND.
Sing Africa was officially launched in 1996 at Daystar University to minister through song, dance, and testimony within our African context. The founder, Timothy Kaberia, then a student there felt there was a need for the African people to unite, pray, and work together for the continent to be a better place, away from the war, turmoil and hunger that constantly plague it.
Sing Africa is a group of 45 students from all over Africa and further 200 or so members who were actively involved while studying at Daystar but have since graduated and are out there still getting on with this vision for Africa. For instance, they have been the main organizers for AFLEWO (Africa lets worship); a worship concert which is normally held annually in the month of September at the Nairobi Pentecostal church-karen. We sing Africans have a message for Africa for Africans. The different nationalities that have been represented in Sing Africa over the years are: Angola, Burkina Faso, Zibambwe, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Ghana and Uganda. Currently, we have members from Burundi, Niger, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Kenya.
The group is dedicated to keeping alive in this unity among the different nationalities by:
a) Organizing to different local churches in Kenya and cities around Africa.
b) Presenting hope to our families, neighbors, campus mates and eventually all over Africa.
c) Promoting social welfare among Africans through organizing community service in children's homes, hospitals and slums.

MISSION STATEMENT.
We at Sing Africa believe that Africa is a continent that God has chosen with a divine purpose. Despite the many negatives within people, which are evident in the bloodshed of innocent people of Africa, our Hope remains in Christ. We take pride in the fact that in the fact that we our ethnical differences constitute the wealth of Africa on condition that all of us Africans learn to live together in harmony.

The vision we have for Africa is wholeness and contentment; of peace and joy; of a people who can confidently deal with our own problems, show concern for our poor, be fully engaged in our own development; a people who can wisely utilize our abundant resources; a people who have discovered God's great intention for Africa and what it means to be truly African.
The objectives of Sing Africa are:
a) Using our talents and gifts to glorify God's name and send out his message of hope to his people.
b) Striving to be servant leaders that Daystar University is training us to be.
c) Reaching out to the African leaders challenging them to be servant leaders and message of hope.

Vision of Sing Africa: To present a message of hope to Africa.
As part of this academic semester's plans and goals, we have organized a mission outreach trip to Rwanda in May 2006 in line with our vision and mission. Why? Because Rwanda is one of the countries that was affected by the genocides from the year 1994-1999,therefore we want spread the message of love and hope to them telling them it doesn't matter what they have gone through God is still God and he is still able to bring back the lost love, peace, joy that was entirely there before. The mission will include ministering through song, dance, narrations, skits, testimonies, preaching and interaction with the people on a personal level. We also hope to take part in community service. The main theme of the mission will be 'Reaching out to the broken spirit'. Besides that, we will also be visiting both local and big churches, children's homes in here in Kenya before our trip to Rwanda. All invitations may be to your local church, institutions, school is welcome as long as you invite us early in advance. we will be more than glad to share Christ with you.
Brethrens, we call upon you to support us in prayer so that God may use us mightly. Any financial contributions will be welcome as well.
