Meet Franso (Francis Njogu), Kim (Charles Kimenyi), Pabz (Kirika Ndegwa) and Edu (Edwin Kihara) who form the group DServe, an acronym for "Desire to Serve". The group was formed in February 2004 and has since grown tremendously, both spiritually and musically. They fellowship at the Jubilee Christian Church, Nairobi’s Church of Excellence, under the covering and mentorship of their Pastors and spiritual parents, Revs. Allan and Kathy Kiuna. "We view ourselves as a new breed of worshipers who God has chosen and is raising to lead this generation to a new realm of true worship. We believe that God brought as together for a reason, and a season, and it is our major obligation to use every gift and resource He has given us to see to it that the purpose He has destined to us is fulfilled in time and in season," they add. Kim doubles up as a music student and tutor at the Kenya Conservertoíré of Music. He plays a range of music instruments and is also a gifted songwriter. Franso is about to join college to study business management and mass communication, and is also in the process of establishing a business mainly dealing with designer clothing. Pabz also doubles up as a student and part time lecturer at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a database engineer at Ascribe Ltd. He studies and teaches computer related courses. Edu is the technical man on the ground. He also plays a range of music instruments and is in the process of establishing his own recording label and studio. They all live in Kabete. IN THEIR OWN WORDS...

Our mission is one: To preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Our main tool of ministry is music. Music is known all around the world as a universal language. Its beauty lies in its ability to appeal to the hearts and souls of people from all races and cultures, in whatever form it maybe presented. It is in this understanding that our music is not one sided in terms of its genre, but tends to be multi facetted and diverse in style and approach. It mainly touches on the genres of R&B, Afro fusion and Accapella, and it randomly incorporates Soft Rock as well Hip Hop. The main reason for incorporating diversity in our music is so that it may appeal to the heart and spirit of the listener regardless of his/her musical preference, hence ensuring that balance is achieved in our mandate to communicate the message of God’s love to His people. By this, the Gospel is not only important to hear, but more so enjoyable to listen to. It is our desire that through our music, God’s presence will be ushered into people’s lives, bringing salvation, healing and deliverance.

Our main target towards which we focus our message is the youth. God has released His Spirit upon the youth of this generation and empowered them to do great and mighty things to the honor and glory of His name. It is our mission to reach out to as many young people as we can by the grace of God and help them discover God, through Christ Jesus, for only then will they discover themselves.

DServe

One of the ways through which we are able to carry out, fulfill and achieve this mandate, other than through our music, is by way of missions. By the grace of God, we’ve been able to reach out and minister the love and the will of God to many young people in numerous schools and churches in various parts of the country including Nairobi and its vicinities, Central and Rift Valley provinces. However, although we’ve managed to achieve alot through this, we still feel that there’s so much more we haven’t and we need to do inorder to achieve our goal of reaching out to and winning as many souls as we can to the Kingdom. It is with the understanding of that need that we’ve learnt over time the paramount importance of exercising fundamental Kingdom principles of success. The principle referred to in this particular case is that of NETWORKING, or Connections, if so preferred.

We strongly believe in the power of connections. We acknowledge the fact that “your gifts and talents will open doors for you, but it is your CONNECTIONS that will lead you to those doors”. We seek to connect and network ourselves with people who shall be instrumental in helping us achieve our destiny as a ministry and as individuals. We have embarked on a rigorous campaign to accumulate and amass a vast wealth of networks and connections to people with whom together we shall combine our gifts, talents and callings and work together to fulfill the command and mandate of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to preach the Gospel to the entire world.

By this, we are convinced that we shall with no doubt fulfill our mission in God’s time.
