Chosen is a Christian music group based in Johannesburg South Africa but currently in Dallas, Texas. Because of their love for Jesus Christ and the talent that was evident in their lives back in 1998, five friends realized that many young people of their age group in their country had turned away from God and had lost direction in life. Most of the youth had no goals in life thus turning to drugs. However due to their faith in God and the Christian virtues they upheld, these five friends made a commitment to be radically different they felt that they had a Christian and social responsibility to make a difference and hence began the music group chosen.

MUSIC STYLE
We sing different styles of music but mostly reggae and kwaito a South African style of music. We have found this useful as we can reach out to the young and the old in a unique way. We especially have adapted to the African kwaito and the Caribbean beat reggae so that we sing music that one can listen to, dance and sing along to. By this we are able to share Gods love, and encourage all whom we come in contact with both young and old.

The harvest is ripe and laborers are few but as chosen we say here we are lord send us!
We have sang in many places in our country and in Africa, America and Europe. We give thanks to our God and Savior for all the doors he has opened for us to impact the youth through song. We have sang in different countries and worked with over 1000 ministries, churches and organizations. We need your prayers support as we go out and share this saving message of our lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

VISION
" To make the Lord Jesus Christ known through praise and worship.

" To lift up the downhearted and encourage those who are about to lose their last ray of hope.

" To bring those who are lost back to Him who is the only hope for mankind.

ACHIEVEMENTS
We have seen God use us in a big way as we spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4) in our country Kenya and in Africa. We have seen Him transform us into a big international Music group from just a church music group and all praise and honor we give to Him

" We have been able to record two albums 'Praise Him'. And Vision Africa
" We have worked with many different artists we have also closely worked with Vision Africa an AIDS organization that advocates for abstinence .We have also recorded an album with them which has music from six different countries in Africa.
" We have recorded a few music videos which have become a favorite to many viewers. We have toured many countries in Africa and also held concerts in the USA.
" We've had the privilege of working with more than 100 organizations, ministries and churches throughout Africa

PROJECT ON HIV/AIDS IN AFRICA
Apart from our music ministry we have been trained as youth workers by Vision Africa. We advocate Abstinence as the only way to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS in our continent and the whole world.

VISION AND MISSION
1. To teach and influence youth to abstain from premarital sexual activity.
2. To build character based on positive moral values in today's young people.
3. To develop leadership skills in young people.
4. To motivate young people to set life goals, dream, explore and maximize their potential.
5. To equip youth with self help skills for community development and social responsibility.
Because our target audience is the youth we are aware that the Youth are at increasing risk of infection with HIV/AIDS, through engagement in high-risk behaviors and lack of access to available information and services for prevention. The development of youth-friendly education and outreach prevention services for youth, as well as care and support of youth living with HIV/AIDS, is a growing challenge.
" Young people between the ages of 15 and 24 are the fastest-growing population of newly infected persons living with HIV/AIDS, accounting for almost half of all newly infected adults.
" Approximately 6,000 young people are infected each day.

In CHOSEN we decided that as a music group we will do our best to empower the youth to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS by advocating for Abstinence. Coming from Africa, we saw the alarming numbers of our fellow young people who were dying of AIDS and we decided that we could use our God given talents to empower the youth to combat the spread of AIDS/HIV.

The groups primary focus is on Sub-Saharan Africa and later the rest of the continent and the world.

We have been based in Johannesburg, South Africa for the last four years after being based in Kenya for six years. We have been using South Africa as a base to go out to the rest of Africa and the world.

WHY ABSTINENCE?
The message of abstinence drums from Africas culture and it is the method that this project would like to focus on. Though less emphasis is put on the pros of abstinence today, our culture has always promoted self-respect and family values.

Our motivating system of beliefs concerning young people in the 21st century is as follows:

" Your body is to be respected and not given to anybody else.
" If empowered, young people are capable of making quality decisions regarding their sexuality.
" Marriage is a sacred and desirable institution.
" If we act responsibly and abstain, HIV/AIDS infections can be reduced drastically especially among youth.
" Sex is not just a physical act; it involves your whole person, emotions, character, heart and spirituality. Marriage is the only platform able to fully handle the implications of the sexual union.
" Self-respect brings trust, lifelong commitment and stability in marriage, but it begins in the teen years.
